Only natural skin healing ingredients are used in our ManukaRx® Ointment

It's important to know what is in the products you use and why they are there.  That's why we are completely transparent about what is in our product so you can benefit from knowing what you are using, why you are using it, and that none of the ingredients are harmful to you or your family.

We only use natural ingredients in ManukaRx®!  We have formulated our ointment using ingredients recognised for their benefits to the skin so there are no 'redundant' ingredients just to make it smell good or to preserve it for a longer shelf-life.

Leptospermum scoparium (Manuka Oil)

The hero ingredient of our ointment. Manuka Oil is renowned for its potent antimicrobial properties.

It’s healing properties aid the body in repair and rejuvenation while the antibacterial, antifungal and antiviral properties work by helping to keep the skin clean and clear of bacteria that can cause skin problems such as acne, spots and other blemishes. Manuka oil is full of natural compounds that make it so desirable in the treatment of a broad spectrum of conditions.

Its cicatrisant properties mean that it is an effective way to heal damaged skin and deter scar formation. The oil can promote the growth and regeneration of new cells while protecting any wounds from developing infection. Manuka oil has also been found useful in fighting impetigo.

It is also a great natural remedy for insect bites or stings including those from mosquitos and ants.

Castor seed oil

Castor seed oil contains undecylenic acid which, due to its germicidal and disinfectant properties, is useful for treating skin diseases and skin ulcers, particularly those which are caused by bacterial or fungal infections.

Sunflower seed oil

Sunflower oil is rich in vitamin E, which is specifically related to improving skin health and regenerating cells. This means that your skin is better protected against damage from the sun, as well as the natural degradation of age that occurs when free radicals are present in the body. Antioxidants like vitamin E neutralize free radicals, keeping them from destroying or damaging healthy cells. You can see an increased reduction in scars, quicker wound healing and a healthier natural glow to your skin.

Beeswax, an exceptional natural product made by our favourite insects, has been proven to be far safer and more effective than petroleum based products. Beeswax has major skin benefits when applied topically. It carries antiviral, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties that are essential in fighting chapped skin and bacterial infections that tend to affect us most in the dry, winter months. It forms a protective wall by sealing in moisture in our skin without smothering and clogging up the pores, plus, it contains vitamin A which has been proven in multiple studies to reduce wrinkles and age spots while re-hydrating and reconstructing damaged skin cells.

Tribehenin is known as a glyceryl triester or glyceryl tribehenate, comprised of mixture of glycerin, a smoothing lubricant, and behenic acid, a plant-derived fatty acid and conditioner used as our viscosity-increasing agent.

Cocoa butter

Some of the most important health benefits of cocoa butter include its ability to improve skin health, boost the immune system, improve hair quality, prevent signs of aging, and reduce inflammation. We like it because of its high concentration of antioxidant compounds, including oleic acid, palmitic acid, and stearic acid. Although these are technically fatty acids, they are beneficial for the body and help to neutralize free radicals throughout the body, particularly in the skin. By reducing the occurrence of oxidative stress, cocoa butter can help reduce the signs of aging, including wrinkles and age marks. Research has also shown it to reduce the appearance of scars on the skin and help to boost overall skin health, making it a perfect complement to manuka oil. The antioxidants and beneficial organic molecules protect the skin from environmental, internal, and external forces that can cause irritation or damage to the skin.

Shea butter

Shea butter is a skin super food that comes from the seeds of the fruit of the shea (Karite) tree and that is naturally rich in vitamins A, E and F. It offers UV protection (it is SPF ~6) and provides the skin with essential fatty acids and the nutrients necessary for collagen production. Its concentration of natural vitamins and fatty acids make it incredibly nourishing and moisturizing for skin. It is often used to remedy dry skin and to help protect the skin’s natural oils. With long term use, many people report skin softening and strengthening as well as wrinkle reduction from this ingredient.

Calendula flower oil

Aside from stimulating healing, calendula oil can significantly boost the appearance of your skin. It can affect blood flow to the skin cells, provide antioxidant protection that reduces the appearance of wrinkles and ages spots and even the visibility of scars.

Curcuma Longa root oil (turmeric)

According to Sanskrit medical treatises, Ayurvedic and Unani systems, turmeric has a long history of medicinal use in South Asia. Topically speaking, turmeric essential oil is traditionally used as an antiseptic and in natural skin care to discourage acne and facial hair in women.

We have used it in our formula as we believe that it makes skin appear younger, reduces redness as well as protecting the skin from harmful bodies and helps give a flawless complexion.

Turmeric oil also has plenty of antioxidant which counteracts the free radicals known to hasten the ageing process. Its antimicrobial properties help prevent and also treat acne and other skin infections making it the perfect partner for our manuka oil.
